The SLO Life | Serenity Swing Hike

So this post is super super late.
About a month-ish ago (maybe even longer than that), we took a little hike up to Serenity Swing, right behind where we live. Turns out it's right behind Architecture Graveyard--the first hike I went on in SLO. Except this one was more uphill and more slippery and more windy and a lot harder. LOL but that's probably just because I need to work on my hiking skills. And get less slippery shoes.

But the view up there was amazing, and we timed it so that we caught the sunset. It was BEAUTIFUL. We also sat on the swing and swung around. The only bad part was how windy it was because I kept feeling like I would get blown off the mountain. But we all survived :)

Dream Diary #35 | We're All Just Little Egg Farmers

I had another dream involving all of my roommates and hallmates. Even though I've only been at home and away from them for a couple days so far (yay winter break!), it's already been so weird and quiet without them. So it's only fitting that I had a dream about all of us together.

It was honestly one of the weirder dreams that I've had lately. And that's probably because I actually remembered this dream. I haven't been remembering my dreams all that much lately either--my sleep patterns are so whacked out so that's probably why.

Anyways, the dream. So it started off normal, we were all just hanging out at school in the apartments where we live. But then, it turns out that we actually weren't at school but on an egg farm.
Yeah, we were all living together on an egg farm.
Egg. Farm.
I can't even begin to comprehend why we were on an egg farm. Or even why were living there. Like maybe we all became egg farmers together or something. But we were selling eggs and living there, and for some reason I didn't even see where the chickens were. Oh well.

We Cook, We Eat, We Feed.

I took my first nutrition class at Cal Poly this quarter- FSN121. The Fundamentals of Food.
As the first official Food Science & Nutrition class on my path to becoming a registered dietitian, it was a lot of fun and was the perfect course to start off with.

I had a great group of lab members--Kendal, Peter, and Matt. Even though we always finished late, we always had a ton of fun cooking and eating and singing to music together in class. I'm really glad that we ended up in the same group because it wouldn't have been the same without them.

We learned how to make a ton of different food in the class. There's nothing better than being able to taste and eat while you cook. The best day was probably the day the huge chocolate wheels were brought in. You know we definitely ate TONS of that stuff. SOOO DELICIOUS!

My favorite thing we learned to make was pasta. I had always wanted to make homemade pasta because I love pasta so much. It was so easy and so fun, and I really really want to get a pasta rolle now. We even went extra and made fettuccine on top of the ravioli we had to make. Go team!

The best part of the class was that we had it for 3 hours right before/around dinner time. So we were always well fed on Wednesdays because we got to eat everything we made in class :) And of course there were always leftovers for us to take home with us too!

What's On Repeat This Week

The latest songs I've been playing on repeat. Literally on repeat. Like while I study. While I eat. While I shower. Just anytime and anywhere I want to listen to music. So basically always.
Also side note: We literally LOVE listening to Ass Drop. It's super catchy and fun haha. And it's a really good work out song.

Ass Drop - Wiz Khalifa
Feel The Love - Rudimental
Blank Space - Taylor Swift
Trumpets - Jason Derulo
Car Radio - Twenty One Pilots
Daylight - Matt and Kim
i - Kendrick Lamar
Love Me Harder - Ariana Grande

Dream Diary #34 | Turkeys, Sparkles, & Off-Roading

It's been a while since I've been able to remember my dreams. But last night, I finally was able to!

So it started off like this. I was at the grocery store and was grocery shopping with my parents (Thanksgiving on my mind!) We were definitely shopping for a turkey and all that other good Thanksgiving food. Then for some reason, some random old man came over and sat on our cart, and he was like expecting my dad to push him around the store like that. We had no idea who this man was or anything so of course we were like...uhh no. And then it took forever to get the man off of our cart. I don't even know.

Then the dream jumped to the mall. We were at this giant mall and we see this lady who was dressed in all gold and sparkles. Katarina said that was the lady she always sees while shopping, and that the lady didn't care about how much she spent or what she bought. Kaia was also there and she even thought the lady was wearing too many sparkles (and Kaia loves sparkles). We didn't find anything to buy, but the lady bought like a million things. And then we walked over to Starbucks because they were having a BOGO deal. But when we get there, they tell us that they ran out of Grande sized in everything. RIDICULOUS. So I ended up getting Tall decaf coffee with 2 pumps of hazelnut syrup. I have no idea why I even got coffee in my dream. But that actually does sound delicious. But not in a Tall size, in a Grande.

Andddd, the dream jumped again. This was probably the most random part of my dream. I was driving along some freeway by myself and then took the wrong turn. I ended up going down this dirt road and there were all these other cars with me but they were off-roading vehicles. And I was kinda confused at first, but it turned out that we were on this dirt/mud road with random water slides, going off-roading in the mud?! Like mudding. But my car definitely was not equipped to do that. So we go all the way down the entire thing, and we were all expecting to be able to turn around to go home. But the road at the end was blocked off and we couldn't do that. So we all got out of our cars and were floating around in this muddy lake, trying to figure out how to get home. HAHAHA. I have no idea why I dreamt that but it kinda really does sound like fun.

DON'T LEAVE YOUR ALARM ON

There are so many ways to wake up. SO MANY.
But the worst way to possibly wake up has got to be the way I woke up this morning.

I have no issue with waking up early when I have to, but when I wake up early because of someone else, then IT'S A PROBLEM.

So I guess the girl who lives in the room above me (or maybe even the one who lives in the room below me, but most likely it's the girl above) had to wake up at 6:30 am. And set her alarm for 6:30 am. Problem is....she snoozed it, so it went off again a few minutes later. EXCEPT SHE DIDN'T TURN IT OFF FOR LIKE 15 MINUTES. I think she left to go shower and forgot to turn the alarm completely off. AND I COULD HEAR IT FROM MY ROOM. AT 6:30 AM. WHYYYYY.

I was sooooo mad. Literally, I can always hear her phone from my room. Like whenever it goes off during the day, or she gets a phone call or text, I can ALWAYS hear it. WHY IS HER PHONE SO LOUD?!?!?! I just don't get it. And I don't like it.

The SLO Life | A Very Gypsie Halloween

First Halloween in San Luis Obispo!!

We honestly had no idea what people do in SLO during Halloween. No idea at all.
But we didn't want to do nothing, so Polina, Megan, Amanda, and I decided to go out to the pumpkin patch/corn maze the night before. It was a lot bigger than we thought, and we got impossibly lost for 2 hours. But we eventually found our way out :)

We took a bunch of cute polaroids on Halloween too when we were all dressed up in costume.
Amanda's Joker makeup was on point. Definitely scary though-I couldn't look her in the eye half the time. LOL. We also learned the very important lesson of avoid party regret. Please.

And we also went to the UCSB v. Cal Poly soccer game that weekend. WE LOST, but it was most of ours' first soccer game here, so that was fun.
The weekend was fun and we semi-figured out how to do Halloween in SLO. So I would call that a success.

Dream Diary #33 | The League and Onion Penholders

Last night, I dreamt my roommates and our neighbors were all going on an excursion together. We drove to this house in the mountains, and the house belonged to the parents of Taco and Kevin MacArthur from The League. I've been trying to catch up on The League for a while now, so maybe I've been watching it just a little too much lately. The house was really cute and had all these weird homemade decorations from Taco inside. Like there was this awesome penholder in the kitchen shaped like an onion. The pens were all green and shaped like the onion stems, and the pen holder part looked like a little onion bulb hahaha. They also had the most amazing dog there. It was huge and fluffy and had paws like those giant teddy bears from Costco, and could even play patty cake. AWESOME.

Then we had to leave to go somewhere and Megan offered to drive. But she had to get gas, and could only get gas at Chevron for some reason. We kept trying to map out where the closest Chevron was, but the one that was closest to us turned out to be a house, and the other one was really far away. I'm not sure if we ever found a Chevron because I woke up. Haha.

SLO Times | Please Don't Fall Off Bishop Peak

After all this time in SLO, I finally hiked Bishop Peak on Friday with Megan, Elise, Hayley, and Polina. It was a little bumpy at first, during the initial incline (like it seriously felt like a straight vertical), and then there were rocks towards the top. The rocks weren't so bad, except at the very very top of the peak. My little legs were too short to get all the way up to sit on the rock, so I had help getting pulled up, and then being lowered down when we were leaving.

Also, Polina slipped and almost fell down the mountain when we were coming down from the top (and we were still basically at the very top). It was right in front of these two ladies who were already iffy about climbing up all the way, and when they saw her slip, they were like "Oh no, no way, turning back now!" Haha. So even though it wasn't funny that she fell, it was still a little funny. But that definitely did not help with my fear of falling off a mountain while hiking. So I definitely will be staying away from the edges from now on.

WAKE ME UP | Music

These past few days, I've been having some issues with waking up. Usually I have no problem getting up early and I'm usually the earliest one up in the apartment. So to help me wake up I've literally been listening to a few wake up songs while I eat breakfast and get ready for the day. And now they're on repeat every morning. And day. And night. Because I love them sooo much. I feel like Katarina when she finds her new song that she's obsessed over. HAHAHA.

Habits (Stay High) - Tove Lo
Pompeii (Kat Krazy Remix) - Bastille
Change Your Life - Iggy Azalea ft. T.I.
Animals - Maroon 5 ft. J. Cole
Outside - Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding
Stolen Dance - Milky Chance
Heroes (we could be) - Alesso ft. Tove Lo
Torn Apart - Bastille ft. GRADES

And here's a little picture of the San Francisco sunrise, courtesy of Katarina.

A VERY Belated and Classy Birthday Post

So I'm finally coming back on the blog posting wagon after dropping off it for a while. It's kinda hard to start doing something again after you don't do it for a while. But here we go.

A week ago was my birthday! And half a week ago was Sydney's birthday! Happy belated birthday to us! And happy birthday to Trisha today!

I went home for my birthday to celebrate with the family last weekend, and Sydney and I had a joint birthday dinner. It was at this fancy little French restaurant called Tapenade in La Jolla. Of course, our family pretty much took up half the restaurant because there's so many of us. We ate a bunch of fancy food, and had a bunch of yummy wine. Of course, there was a delicious looking birthday dessert (chocolate!!!) I also got the bonus of getting to see GG for like 30 minutes haha. It was fun being at home, even though it was literally for like 1.5 days. See you guys at Thanksgiving!

I got tons of amazing gifts from everybody. Definitely lots of elephant things (thank you Chelsea and my cuzzos and my amazing roomies!) and a polaroid camera (finally!) and other odds and ends and sweet things (we killed that chocolate SO FAST, Polina). THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Then the weekend after that we had some more classy celebrating (and also some not classy celebrating, but I don't have pictures of that haha). We had a little girls' night in SLO at Meze Wine Bar & Bistro. The bubbly was pink and delicious, and they had really good food too. We played some more when we got home. And I got a little carsick. Whoops. Avoid party regret please. And the next day, Maggie made us really really delicious fried eggs in tortilla baskets. YES. And then we all played again.

The End.

Monday Memories Ep. 05 | London Times Part 3

The very last part of our London adventures! I'm actually sad that this will be the last major London post. So many feels with this one.

So we went to Trafalgar Square where there was the huge blue cock/chicken statue. There were also a bunch of awesome Scottish lads singing in the square (there was a football match I think). Like it was our first glimpse into how into football everyone is there, which is awesome. We also went to watch a concert in the episcopal church there. And also there's Kirsten wearing her super cute new dress she got at Topshop lol.
We spent quite a bit of time in Camden eating and shopping. They had suuuuch good food stands and cheap clothing stalls where we learned the art of haggling.
Some of us girls at the Nottingham Carnival. Plus some random tall guy on the right. It was super hot that day and super crowded, but it was worth the super long trek to get there.
The view at Kew Gardens. Hannah pretty much could have lived in the big treehouse there FOREVER. Trees and nature for miles and miles and miles. YAY FOR NATURE!
HOT DUB TIME MACHINE. Probably one of the best things we did in London, like we still think about it to this day. Nothing beats dancing to music starting all the way from the 50's up to 2013. Seriously, they have to bring this thing to America!
Also, the street art in London was on point for sure.
And one of our last days in London, we all walked down South Bank and went on the London eye together. The view from the top was incredible. And it was only a 10 minute walk from our flat. And it was the perfect last adventure for us.
Last but not least, this has got to be one of my most favorite pictures from the entire summer. The girls (minus Johanna who took the picture!) when we stopped at some random little cafe on our way somewhere. I totally don't remember where it was. Also, sorry GG I have no idea where you were either.
And now the happy memories from London are finished! Obviously a ton of pictures didn't make the cut, but most of the important things got on here. The feels are still very real though.
I miss you guys! And I miss London.
Definitely will be going back there again someday SOON. Right guys? RIGHT.
