Dream Diary #37 | Dolphins Up Close And Personal

It was my birthday in my dream.

And we were at a crowded beach, swimming in the ocean with a ton of people. The water was gorgeous and super clear, so I'm thinking we were somewhere tropical. It was weird though because these rocks were kinda blocking the way back to the beach. So once you were out in the water, it was really hard to get back to the sand. And in real life, I'm not the strongest swimmer, so it was kinda cool to be able to swim out so far in my dream.

I remember there were dolphins somewhere in my dream last night and they were huge! They all swam together and were really close to us. It was a little bit scary actually seeing them super up close. But I'm sure they were very nice dolphins and they didn't hurt us--so that was a plus.

Then the dream switched to a huge house. I remember I was texting Brian about something and Kaia was there too. I guess I forgot all my stuff to get ready though, so needed to go and borrow stuff from everybody. I think I had to get ready for a birthday party (for myself?) but I really can't remember anymore.

Happy days. And happy lunar new year!

So It Wasn't Friday...

On Wednesday, for some odd reason, I woke up thinking it was Friday.
Like every cell in my body truly believed it was Friday. And I was like, "Oh awesome, it's Friday...let me just skip class today and sleep in some more." But then... it wasn't Friday. It was actually Wednesday and there was no possible way for me to skip all my Wednesday classes.

Seriously, made me so sad.

WHY DID MY BRAIN HAVE TO TRICK ME LIKE THAT?!!?

So that wasn't my brightest moment. And it was honestly really sad that it wasn't Friday.

So now today is Friday, but doesn't really feel like Friday because in my mind, Friday already happened. Great.

Happy Friday to me.

Dear Jon, You Can Never Escape Us Now.

Dear Jon,
*Cue Nicholas Sparks movie now*
Seriously, you will never ever be able to escape us now. You're a Gypsie for life. And you're our friend forever and ever and ever and ever. Even when you're all the way over in Rhode Island.

It was a pleasure for all of us to meet you, for all of us to becomes friends, and for us to invade your space all the time. Thanks for letting us creep while you were sleeping, Edward Cullen-style. But hey, even in your short time at Cal Poly, you already became ultra famous on CalPolySleeps and the the bike video. And also you got to hangout with us amazing kids--tell ya friends!!!! Don't forget to teach Rhode Island all the cool Californian things we taught you, like how to wear bro tanks and how to not wear shoes at home and how to bromance (thank your roommates) and how to go with the flow & not plan things by the minute. And we promise that we'll never forget everything you taught us, like fashion and makeup and bikes and all your advice and Italian things and dance moves by the incredible Dr. Sugaspank.

In all honesty though, it won't be the same without you and we already miss you loads.
But we'll see you soon buddy!

And remember, when you come back to California, we'll have a dairy-free apple birthday pie ready, and Mandy will be waiting for you in a box (and maybe Kyle too). And when we come to Rhode Island and take over the whole island, we hope you're ready too. And the card we made you better be framed and on top of your mantle. Oh, and we need to meet your MA. MAAAA.

Love,
Your favorite crazy kids <3

Dream Diary #36 | House of Cats and the Bunny Rabbit from Hell

For some reason, every time I dream of animals, they scare me sooo much.
Like they're not just regular animals you see in everyday life, but more like...demonic monsters.

So last night I dreamt of cats. Furry crazy ass cats. Not just one cat, but many many cats.
And I HATE HATE HATE cats in real life and am super allergic to them. So it was so bizarre that I dreamt about hanging around with those demon creatures at someone's house. I forgot whose house it was, but I do remember that they abandoned me there to help them take care of their cats. Everywhere I turned, there was a cat. And they just wouldn't leave me alone!!! And oddly enough, the cats could kinda talk and understand me? I even told one cat to close the door for me when I was trying to run away and it did. JEEPERS.

And of course, once I escaped the House of Cats, I ran into another demonic animal, but this time it was a bunny rabbit. As I was trying to ask people for directions to get back home,  I see this creature out of the corner of my eye. And it honestly looked like a gray wrinkly baby elephant. And I thought, "Oh that's kinda cute...but why is there an elephant here?" Turns out that it definitely wasn't an elephant. One of the people I was talking to started explaining to me that it was actually a rabbit--a really huge and terrifying bunny rabbit. A bunny rabbit the size of a horse. A bunny rabbit that started sprinting right at me and getting all up in my face.
NO THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I definitely woke up with massive anxiety after that dream.

A Very Happy Christmas, Indeed.

Happy Christmas, Harry! - Ron Weasley
Happy Christmas, Ron! - Harry Potter
Anyways, it's now 2015, and I still haven't written about Christmas 2014!!!
It was a happy, jolly, warm and fuzzy time this year. Complete with a Christmas cake! We've never had a Christmas cake before, but it was probably the best idea we've ever had. It will definitely be incorporated as a new Christmas tradition, especially because it's my all time favorite chocolate layered mousse cake and is sooo delicious. It would be selfish to only have that cake on our birthdays because Christmas is Jesus's birthday and I'm sure he would appreciate the cake (right Sydney?)

This year all the cousins did stockings since we were tired of doing White Elephant and Secret Santa again. Stockings were actually really fun, except all of us failed at finding gifts that would fit into the actual stockings LOL. So the stockings were empty...and all the presents were just on the floor.

We also decorated the tree a little differently this year. First off, the tree was bought much much earlier (like day after Thanksgiving early) instead of how we usually wait until a few weeks before Christmas. And sooo for the first time in forever, we actually had a really nice and full and pretty-from-all-sides tree! Yay!!!

We still put up all our nostalgic childhood ornaments like all the Disney ones, and I added a new Cal Poly ornament too. But we also decided to seek ideas the great Pinterest app on how to decorate our tree. Pinterest thought we should add in some of those huge fake flowers, so we did. We'll probably slowly add more little things from Pinterest every year, but this year started off pretty well.

I can't wait for next Christmas to decorate the tree, and drink more champagne (Brian, you little drunkie), and do more presents and stockings, and have more misspelled presents.

Happy Christmas everybody!

The SLO Life | Serenity Swing Hike

So this post is super super late.
About a month-ish ago (maybe even longer than that), we took a little hike up to Serenity Swing, right behind where we live. Turns out it's right behind Architecture Graveyard--the first hike I went on in SLO. Except this one was more uphill and more slippery and more windy and a lot harder. LOL but that's probably just because I need to work on my hiking skills. And get less slippery shoes.

But the view up there was amazing, and we timed it so that we caught the sunset. It was BEAUTIFUL. We also sat on the swing and swung around. The only bad part was how windy it was because I kept feeling like I would get blown off the mountain. But we all survived :)

Dream Diary #35 | We're All Just Little Egg Farmers

I had another dream involving all of my roommates and hallmates. Even though I've only been at home and away from them for a couple days so far (yay winter break!), it's already been so weird and quiet without them. So it's only fitting that I had a dream about all of us together.

It was honestly one of the weirder dreams that I've had lately. And that's probably because I actually remembered this dream. I haven't been remembering my dreams all that much lately either--my sleep patterns are so whacked out so that's probably why.

Anyways, the dream. So it started off normal, we were all just hanging out at school in the apartments where we live. But then, it turns out that we actually weren't at school but on an egg farm.
Yeah, we were all living together on an egg farm.
Egg. Farm.
I can't even begin to comprehend why we were on an egg farm. Or even why were living there. Like maybe we all became egg farmers together or something. But we were selling eggs and living there, and for some reason I didn't even see where the chickens were. Oh well.

We Cook, We Eat, We Feed.

I took my first nutrition class at Cal Poly this quarter- FSN121. The Fundamentals of Food.
As the first official Food Science & Nutrition class on my path to becoming a registered dietitian, it was a lot of fun and was the perfect course to start off with.

I had a great group of lab members--Kendal, Peter, and Matt. Even though we always finished late, we always had a ton of fun cooking and eating and singing to music together in class. I'm really glad that we ended up in the same group because it wouldn't have been the same without them.

We learned how to make a ton of different food in the class. There's nothing better than being able to taste and eat while you cook. The best day was probably the day the huge chocolate wheels were brought in. You know we definitely ate TONS of that stuff. SOOO DELICIOUS!

My favorite thing we learned to make was pasta. I had always wanted to make homemade pasta because I love pasta so much. It was so easy and so fun, and I really really want to get a pasta rolle now. We even went extra and made fettuccine on top of the ravioli we had to make. Go team!

The best part of the class was that we had it for 3 hours right before/around dinner time. So we were always well fed on Wednesdays because we got to eat everything we made in class :) And of course there were always leftovers for us to take home with us too!

Also side note: We literally LOVE listening to Ass Drop. It's super catchy and fun haha. And it's a really good work out song.

Dream Diary #34 | Turkeys, Sparkles, & Off-Roading

It's been a while since I've been able to remember my dreams. But last night, I finally was able to!

So it started off like this. I was at the grocery store and was grocery shopping with my parents (Thanksgiving on my mind!) We were definitely shopping for a turkey and all that other good Thanksgiving food. Then for some reason, some random old man came over and sat on our cart, and he was like expecting my dad to push him around the store like that. We had no idea who this man was or anything so of course we were like...uhh no. And then it took forever to get the man off of our cart. I don't even know.

Then the dream jumped to the mall. We were at this giant mall and we see this lady who was dressed in all gold and sparkles. Katarina said that was the lady she always sees while shopping, and that the lady didn't care about how much she spent or what she bought. Kaia was also there and she even thought the lady was wearing too many sparkles (and Kaia loves sparkles). We didn't find anything to buy, but the lady bought like a million things. And then we walked over to Starbucks because they were having a BOGO deal. But when we get there, they tell us that they ran out of Grande sized in everything. RIDICULOUS. So I ended up getting Tall decaf coffee with 2 pumps of hazelnut syrup. I have no idea why I even got coffee in my dream. But that actually does sound delicious. But not in a Tall size, in a Grande.

Andddd, the dream jumped again. This was probably the most random part of my dream. I was driving along some freeway by myself and then took the wrong turn. I ended up going down this dirt road and there were all these other cars with me but they were off-roading vehicles. And I was kinda confused at first, but it turned out that we were on this dirt/mud road with random water slides, going off-roading in the mud?! Like mudding. But my car definitely was not equipped to do that. So we go all the way down the entire thing, and we were all expecting to be able to turn around to go home. But the road at the end was blocked off and we couldn't do that. So we all got out of our cars and were floating around in this muddy lake, trying to figure out how to get home. HAHAHA. I have no idea why I dreamt that but it kinda really does sound like fun.

DON'T LEAVE YOUR ALARM ON

There are so many ways to wake up. SO MANY.
But the worst way to possibly wake up has got to be the way I woke up this morning.

I have no issue with waking up early when I have to, but when I wake up early because of someone else, then IT'S A PROBLEM.

So I guess the girl who lives in the room above me (or maybe even the one who lives in the room below me, but most likely it's the girl above) had to wake up at 6:30 am. And set her alarm for 6:30 am. Problem is....she snoozed it, so it went off again a few minutes later. EXCEPT SHE DIDN'T TURN IT OFF FOR LIKE 15 MINUTES. I think she left to go shower and forgot to turn the alarm completely off. AND I COULD HEAR IT FROM MY ROOM. AT 6:30 AM. WHYYYYY.

I was sooooo mad. Literally, I can always hear her phone from my room. Like whenever it goes off during the day, or she gets a phone call or text, I can ALWAYS hear it. WHY IS HER PHONE SO LOUD?!?!?! I just don't get it. And I don't like it.

The SLO Life | A Very Gypsie Halloween

First Halloween in San Luis Obispo!!

We honestly had no idea what people do in SLO during Halloween. No idea at all.
But we didn't want to do nothing, so Polina, Megan, Amanda, and I decided to go out to the pumpkin patch/corn maze the night before. It was a lot bigger than we thought, and we got impossibly lost for 2 hours. But we eventually found our way out :)

We took a bunch of cute polaroids on Halloween too when we were all dressed up in costume.
Amanda's Joker makeup was on point. Definitely scary though-I couldn't look her in the eye half the time. LOL. We also learned the very important lesson of avoid party regret. Please.

And we also went to the UCSB v. Cal Poly soccer game that weekend. WE LOST, but it was most of ours' first soccer game here, so that was fun.
The weekend was fun and we semi-figured out how to do Halloween in SLO. So I would call that a success.
